I’m coming out of posting hiatus for this one: Kevin12 is on.

I’m actually quite excited by this. Sure it undermines Labor but fuck it, they were in deep shit anyway. If you can’t easily out distance Abbott in polling stakes, you don’t deserve government. That guy is an absolute joke, the ONLY reason that I would have kept on voting Labor was because the alternative was Abbott, if the coalition had anyone remotely competent, they’d be a shoe in. That’s how messed up the Labor party was. So bring on Kevin 12 I say. Yes, he’s no angel, yes he’s selfish and poll driven, but at least he may not be the electoral poison that Gillard is, and at least he doesn’t kowtow to the internal powerbrokers much.

SHIT JUST GOT REAL.

Tony Abbott as PM….sigh.
The conservatives in power again…sigh.
Visionary NBN project scrapped…sigh.
Money taken out of public education…sigh.
Money taken out of public hospitals…sigh.
Cuts to services…sigh.

It is disspiriting to hear people talk about politics sometimes. Often times the focus isn’t on what ideas parties have rather on the personalities they have.

I would say more column inches are devoted to Abbott and his exercise routine than to Abbott and his ideas for reducing costs of living pressures on families.

More time is spent on the airwaves talking about debates (the number of them, the format of them, if the leaders will take part, where will they be held) then about the vision either leader has for the country.

I think that is sad….because it makes people disengage from the political process.

And we get the situation we have today…the highest number of informal votes since 1984.

Here’s a great clip from the Daily Show. 8 separate Presidents, 8 separate pledges and lofty rhetoric. So we’ll probably still be talking about this in another 50 years time.

I don’t post on my blog because I usually can’t be arsed really. Too tired or busy after work with my other stuff like playing around with my computer, sports and various other activities. That’s why the Ultimate Sigh has been left untouched.

But today K Rudd was ousted. Now I am no Rudd lover, and I disagree with a few of his moves and policies. But this is no way to treat a PM. It is a lofty position, one which the Australian people entrust. Yet today he was ousted all of a sudden, without the opportunity to take it to another election. He deserves at least that.

And I can’t believe I am quoting Abbott on this:

A midnight knock on the door followed by execution is no way a leader should be treated…Prime Ministers should not be treated this way…

And people wonder why we are disillusioned by politics. This is a move which I think shows the true mechanisations behind the Australian political parties. I hope Gillard proves to be an inspired stroke, but I really feel for Rudd right now.
